Did anyone else find the movie 'Mary & Max' oddly moving and sad?

I don't know the origins of the story, but I have just watched it on TV and I agree with you. There are many funny parts and at first I thought it was just a comedy, but later into the film, especially when Max dies I was very moved. Its strange what with it being an animated film, but I felt for the characters and hoped they would have a happy ending. When she found Max dead then saw all of his letters and realized how much she meant to him it really saddened me.
